Here are some tips for quotation in CogLing.

Block quotes[]

For longer quotes, use the block quote template. It has the following configuration:

{{bq|quote|author(s)|year|page(s)}}.

If you want to quote Mouser, who one page 23 of his 2006-book on Cheese wrote these words: "Cheese is very delicious. There are many types of cheese. Some have holes in them. Some are soft and creamy, while others are dry and crusty. Some types of cheese are yellow. Others are red. Some are white and blue. Some cheeses are small and others are very big; regardless of shape and color, all cheese is wonderful. I envy the Man in the Moon - his home is made of cheese.", this is how you should do it:

{{bq|Cheese is very delicious. There are many types of cheese. Some have holes in them. Some are soft and creamy, while others are dry and crusty. Some types of cheese are yellow. Others are red. Some are white and blue. Some cheeses are small and others are very big; regardless of shape and color, all cheese is wonderful. I envy the Man in the Moon - his home is made of cheese.|Mouser|2006|23}}

That will produce this in your article:

"Cheese is very delicious. There are many types of cheese. Some have holes in them. Some are soft and creamy, while others are dry and crusty. Some types of cheese are yellow. Others are red. Some are white and blue. Some cheeses are small and others are very big, regardless of shape and color, all cheese is wonderful. I envy the Man in the Moon - his home is made of cheese."
— (Mouser 2006: 23)

Block quotes with no page references[]

If you are quoting from a lecture, a speech, a website or some other source that does not operate with pages and page numbers, use the template for block quotes without page references. It has this configuration:

{{nbq|quote|author(s)|year}}.

So if we imagine that the source of Mouser's text on cheese is a webpage or a lecture of some kind, this is the way to do it:

{{nbq|Cheese is very delicious. There are many types of cheese. Some have holes in them. Some are soft and creamy, while others are dry and crusty. Some types of cheese are yellow. Others are red. Some are white and blue. Some cheeses are small and others are very big; regardless of shape and color, all cheese is wonderful. I envy the Man in the Moon - his home is made of cheese.|Mouser|2006}}

That will produce this in your article:

"Cheese is very delicious. There are many types of cheese. Some have holes in them. Some are soft and creamy, while others are dry and crusty. Some types of cheese are yellow. Others are red. Some are white and blue. Some cheeses are small and others are very big. Regardless of shape and color, all cheese is wonderful. I envy the Man in the Moon - his home is made of cheese."
— (Mouser 2006)

Well-known quotes[]

You might want to use a well-known quote, which is part of general human knowledge, to initiate your article. By well-known quote is meant often repeated phrases like "I'm not a crook", "To be or not to be", "May the Force be with you" and so on. For such quotes, you should use the well-known quote template. It has this configuration:

{{wq|quote|quotee}}.

This is the way to do it:

{{wq|May the Force be with you|Obi-Wan Kenobi}}.

That produces this in your article:

"May the Force be with you"
— Obi-Wan Kenobi
